10 Years! Scan And Spin
I know, the 10th anniversary is still a month away but I just had to release my C64 demo early because it was finished and I couldn't hold myself back any longer.

I'm Batman
Had a quick playthrough of Batman on C64 and guess what, I did remember (almost) everything about it. The music, the levels and that the Bat-Wing looks stunning but sucks big time when trying to cut all those balloons. The 'Mastermind'-level is still laughable too.

Highscores or Trainers
My first computer was the humble C64, and while my brothers and I did have a couple of original tapes (mostly Mastertronic ones), there were, of course, also loads of copies. I loved seeing those weird flashy intros, and another benefit was that there almost always were cheats or so-called trainers to fool around with.
With trainers, each game could be mastered, no matter your skill level or motivation. While skipping through all the levels to see the ending sequence was great, cheats like unlimited time or energy opened up new ways of exploring and learning a game without becoming frustrated all too quickly.
Playing that way was similar to watching an expert, except you were the one playing, and you'd be learning the game at the same time. Mapping out levels was also way easier with the game clock frozen.
Modern games have long gotten rid of lives and time limits, and with quick saves (or really, really intelligent auto-saves), the need for trainers isn't really there anymore. Then again, I'm a big fan of special modes, e.g. R-Type Dimensions EX's 'Infinity Mode' which is a form of cheating but also way too smooth to feel like cheating. Same with the compass feature that the Quake 2 remaster offeres.

C64 goes 3D
Turned a couple of #C64 games into 3D back in 2006.
Still a fan of this quick'n dirty "What if...?" mockups.

Latest Pickups: Bunch of C64 games
Here's a bunch of C64 games that I've picked up:
